Kicking it back to The Kickback!

As September rolled in, marking Sickle Cell Awareness Month, NotJustYou decided to kick it off with a bang by hosting The Kickback. This event was a vibrant celebration, highlighting the resilience of individuals living with sickle cell disease and providing a platform for unity and support. Despite the cool temperatures and smoky air, we had such an amazing time getting together to just celebrate sickle cell! It was important to us to do right by our community, which is why we celebrated indoors.

We are an organization dedicated to raising awareness about sickle cell disease and supporting individuals and families affected by it, and we understand the importance of fostering community and unity in the face of this challenging condition. The Kickback was a vibrant celebration that brought together a diverse community with a shared purpose. It provided an opportunity for our sickle supporters to connect, share their stories, and build lasting friendships. In doing so, it highlighted the significance of celebrating sickle cell awareness not only as a means of education but also as a powerful tool for community building.

Beyond the amazing venue, great food, and great music, the day was about more than just a BBQ; it was a day of hope and strength. It provided a space for individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease to come together, share their experiences, and find solace in a supportive community.

As we reflect on this event and move forward into Sickle Cell Awareness Month, let's remember the importance of community building and celebration in our shared journey towards a brighter, more inclusive future. Together, we can raise awareness, provide support, and ultimately create a world where sickle cell disease is met with understanding, empathy, and vulnerability.
