One Year Anniversary (OYA)

CELEBRATING ONE YEAR

Continuing a tradition which started in 2019 with our launch concert, Ruva ‘N’ Friends, in 2020 NotJustYou celebrated our ONE Year Anniversary in the same fashion, with a gospel concert to fund raise and celebrate the organization’s achievements since its launch. As always, all proceeds from the event went to NotJustYou and will be used to positively impact the lives of individuals and families affected by sickle cell.

While speaking about our ONE Year Anniversary on air with CBC Radio ahead of the event, our founder, Ufuoma Muwhen, mentioned:

“When a community is united in support of individuals with sickle cell disease, we take one step closer to the eradication of the shame and stigma associated with the disease. Holding an event that brings together people from all walks of life to fellowship and connect with the Most High in praise and worship is how our organization takes that step in our local community.”

A POWERFUL TIME OF WORSHIP

Featuring some of the best musicians and voices in our community, such as Ruva, New Season of Praise, Daniel Generation Choir, Empowerment Praise, and The Light Youth Choir, and MC’d by Wallace Muzorewa, this event drew in a multitude of individuals who came together to sing, dance, and show their sickle support.

This year’s concert was dedicated to celebrating the achievements of NotJustYou over 2019. Throughout the year we were able to continue our growth as a community-oriented non-profit organization by collectively raising over $5000 that will be used to positively impact the lives of those affected by sickle cell, spread our mission and information about our organization to a wider audience both provincially and nationally, and deepen our roots and develop our ties with the local community.
