STRENGTHENING THE COMMUNITY

One of NotJustYou’s main goals is to strengthen the overall sickle cell community around the world. Although we aim to do this globally, it is important to take action locally by creating a healthy and safe community around sickle cell disease within our current sphere of influence.

WARRIOR BAGS

The More The Merrier is a Christmas leg of a larger project NotJustYou has created to piece together warrior bags that are gifted to individuals dealing with their sickle cell disease. These warrior bags will contain some essential bits and bobs that aim to put the warrior at ease through their journey!

PARTNERING WITH UABSA

For the first part of this project, NotJustYou has partnered with the University of Alberta Black Student’s Association (UABSA) for an event to bring people together to make these warrior bags. The UABSA is one of the primary organizations for the representation of black students at the university. They are committed to empowering black individuals and bringing together the local community on and off campus.
